Supplementing Dry Food

No matter what brand of dry dog food you choose, you can add in healthy ingredients to prevent food boredom and increase your dog's health. These additions are also a great way to hide medicine.

  • Sardines for Omega 3's

  • Chopped chicken livers

  • Salmon Oil for Omega 3's and healthy coat

  • Coconut Oil for healthy coat

  • Raw Eggs for Protein

  • Wet/Canned dog food to increase food consumption

  • Peanut Butter for Protein and high calories

  • Pumpkin (cooked or canned only) for constipation and diarrhea

  • Whole raw bones such as chicken legs or feet can be given, no cooked bones

Feeding Guidelines

Young puppies should be fed 3-4 small meals a day of dry food mixed with a small amount of canned food or a raw component.

Dogs over 6 months of age move to eating twice a day.

Our adult dogs eat 3-4 cups of dry food daily, divided into two feedings.

Our dogs are fed a variety of high protein  dry kibble and raw food

Raw Food Recipe

This is a simple raw food recipe I use for my dogs. You can shape these into meatballs or patties and freeze. Use as a supplement to your dry food or as a treat. Make sure to thaw before giving to your dogs.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 Raw eggs with shell

  • 2-4 lbs of ground beef

  • 2-4 cans of sardines

  • 1 apple

  • 1 can pumpkin

  • 1 container chicken livers - finely chopped or food processed
